F-9AX Cruising in Canada
Dr. John Green built his F-9AX on Vancouver Island in the mid-nineties and writes:
Sauterelle is one of the earlier F9AX's out there (launched 1996) and this summer we had a quiet trip to some islands in northern BC inland waters. The photos were taken at Jedediah Island which is a marine park. This is the original LPU paint job and I may redo it all this winter.
We still race a little and in spite of our cedar/epoxy construction, short mast and fixed rig, we managed to get 2nd in this years Swiftsure International Yacht Race Multihull division and were beaten only by the Formula 40 catamaran "Dragonfly" which used to be "Simply the Best" from Australia.
We had the option of switching to the 42.5 foot rig this year but as we are both mid 60's now we find mid teens fast enough. Plus, a new rig would mean all new sails!! Still a great boat after all these years.
